Looking after it

Stack them into the caddy rather than loose in the bag. Cones stored flat in a pile keep their shape; cones tipped loose into a boot get stood on.

Fifty In A SetEnough for a grid, not just a line
Safe To Step OnFlat discs, nothing to turn an ankle
Caddy IncludedThey stack, so they go away in seconds
Under A Kilo0.86 kg for the whole set and bag

Fifty cones, a caddy, and a bag they all go back into.

Flat disc cones for marking drills, zones and grids. Bright enough to see, low enough to run over, and they stack.

The unglamorous kit that every session actually needs.

Fifty flat disc cones is enough to mark a full grid, a shuttle, two channels and a finish line without borrowing from the next pitch.

They are discs rather than upright cones, so a player who stands on one rolls nothing. That is why disc cones are what most coaches use with children.

A plastic caddy holds the stack and a mesh drawstring bag holds the caddy, which is the difference between five seconds and five minutes at the end of a session.

The whole set weighs 0.86 kg and packs to about 10 x 18 x 23 cm.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. Buying Guide

Discs, not cones

A traditional cone is a hazard the moment children are running backwards. A flat disc is not: step on it and it stays flat under the foot. That single difference is why disc cones took over junior coaching, and it is worth knowing before you buy the taller ones because they look more like proper equipment.

The trade off is visibility in long grass, which is why these are made in strong colours.

Why fifty and not twenty

Twenty cones marks one drill. Fifty marks a session. You can leave a grid down, run a shuttle beside it and still have enough to mark the next thing while the current one is running, which means you are coaching instead of walking about rearranging.

Two colour sets in the box also lets you split a group without explaining anything: your team is on the yellows.

Three drills you can set in a minute

A 5 by 5 metre box with a cone at each corner: turn, accelerate, repeat. A ladder of cones one metre apart for short steps and change of direction. Two gates ten metres apart for a shuttle where the player has to run through the gate rather than round it.

None of that needs a pitch. A garden or a park corner is enough.

The caddy is the point

Loose cones do not go back in the bag, they go in the boot, and then they get stood on. The caddy takes the stack in one movement so putting them away takes seconds. Sets without one get lost five at a time over a season.

Keeping them usable

Store them stacked and flat. Cones stored bent recover slowly, and a cone that will not sit flat blows away. If they come home muddy, rinse the stack under a tap and stand it up to drain before it goes back in the bag.
