Sports Warehouse UK is an online retailer. We hold a chosen range of sports and practice equipment, ship it across the United Kingdom, and keep the price down by not running a shop floor.

That is a real trade off rather than a free win, so this page sets out both halves of it.

What buying online gets you

• A lower price on the same equipment, because there is no shop to pay for
• The specification in writing before you buy, rather than from memory across a counter
• Fourteen days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which a physical shop does not have to give you at all
• Delivery to the door, free over £100 and £25 below that

Where a shop still wins

You cannot pick up a racket and feel the balance, or try a helmet on a child's head, from a website. For anything where fit or feel decides the purchase, a shop is genuinely better and we would rather say so.

What we can do is publish the numbers that stand in for feel: frame weights, balance points, head sizes, size charts where the supplier gives us one, and an honest note where they do not.

How to judge any online sports retailer, including us

Four questions worth asking before you order anywhere.

• Does the page publish real specifications, or only adjectives? A listing that will not tell you a weight is hiding something or does not know.
• Does it state a delivery charge and a threshold in numbers, before checkout?
• Does it spell out the cancellation right, including who pays return postage?
• For protective equipment, does it name the safety standard? If it does not, it cannot claim a protection level, and neither can we: the pad set we sell publishes no EN standard and our page says so.
